Introduction
Hello, I am Jasmine Alfred; a student at the University of Toledo majoring in AYA (Adolescence/Young Adult) Education. I am pursuing a degree in English for grades 9-12. I earned a College Prep Diploma from Linden-McKinley STEM Academy in Columbus, Ohio. I enrolled at the University of Toledo in Fall 2010 as a communications major and switched to education in Spring 2012.
English is a general education course for students to receive their high school diploma. The purpose of this class is to teach students the different writing styles and reading techniques such as analyzing and evaluating. In my future classroom, students will not only learn with Microsoft Office (Word, and PowerPoint) but with technologies as well. SMARTBoard, and Google Earth are just to name a few.
Currently I live in Toledo, Ohio as a student; during the summer I reside in Columbus, Ohio with my family. I am a family oriented person and spend much time with them when possible. My mother is such an inspiration in my life. Not only did she bring me into this world but she inspires me to make a change not only for me but for others; she's always someone you can call for help. Just as she inspires me and help others, I want help my students in graduating and inspire them to succeed. I enjoy reading, photography, writing and outdoor activities. On campus I am highly involved in RSA (Residence Student Association). I started off as a Programming Chair for the Dowd, Nash, and White Hall Council. I am currently a resident adviser for the International House residence hall; also student desk worker and was a delegate for the 2012 NACURH (National Association of College and University Residence Halls) Conference.
